Annually Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd across the nation. This date marks the birth of the modern environmental movement in the United States. Today, Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular environmental observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behavior and create global, national and local policy changes.

Locally the fight for a clean environment continues with increasing urgency, as the effects of climate change become more and more apparent every day. The District remains fully committed in celebrating and recognizing Mother Earth in all her infinite glory on this National Day.

The next Reuse Fair, sponsored by Porter County Recycling & Waste Reduction, will take place at the 2023 Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration on April 22nd.

Promote “Reuse” and keep items out of the landfill by donating to organizations in need. The Reuse Fair connects participating non-profit organizations and schools that request supplies with community members who have items they no longer want. Donations will be divided amongst benefitting organizations based on wish lists.

Donations will only be collected at the Porter County Expo Center, April 22nd 9am-noon. Donations must be clean and in good condition. Volunteers have the right to refuse any item before drop off.
