Recycling District of Porter County Plans Events to Celebrate Earth Day Virtually

Earth Day is an occasion for people from all walks of life to celebrate the planet and learn about sustainability and environmental stewardship. For Earth Day 2021, the Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County is sponsoring a slate of special events that can be enjoyed while implementing Covid-19 protocols. Highlights will be:  attending a virtual Master Recycler class, subscribing to the District’s newsletter, and picking up a tree sapling while disposing of household hazardous waste.  The current tentative event schedule is listed below:

Get ideas about how you can reduce, reuse, recycle, and rethink in everyday life. Anyone can join the newsletter online at

•             On April 21st at 6:30 pm, tune in to the Recycling and Waste Reduction District’s Facebook page for a live Q and A about the many recycling services available in Porter County. •             On Saturday, May 1st Porter County residents can pick up a free tree sapling during the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event at the Porter County Expo Center at 215 E Division Rd, Valparaiso, IN. Saplings are free to the first 500 Porter County residents, one per car load, while supplies last. Household Hazardous Waste Collections are an opportunity for residents to dispose of their old cans of cleaners, solvents, oil, gasoline, and other assorted chemicals.
