Visit a Compost Site

Recycle a wide range of household items, drop off organic yard waste, pick up mulch and compost, and more! Select a location to learn more; note that the Boone Grove and Portage Compost Sites are closed for the season between December and March.

Where Can I Recycle It?

Whether you have coffee cans full of used batteries, a collection of old eyeglasses, a pile of tires, or something else to dispose of, we can help. Discover drop-off locations for some of our most requested items and search our directory for more unusual items.

Education

Porter County Recycling offers educational, interactive programs designed to help adults and children learn about topics ranging from recycling to composting to the contributions that insects make in breaking down waste. New year, new prescription! Now... what to do with your old eyeglasses? 🤔 Although they shouldnt be placed in your curbside trash or recycling, they can be donated to several locations throughout Porter County. Since eyeglasses are commonly made out of mixed material, recycling them requires separate processing which we do not have available locally. Check out locations near you to donate your old eyeglasses and help someone else see in 2022: https://portercountyrecycling.org/recycling-directory/wpbdp_category/eyeglasses/
